A project by Liechtenstein Development Service (LED)
Technical vocational training helps to avoid youth poverty
The project aims to provide young people from low-income families with access to quality secondary and higher technical education so that they can generate financial resources through decent and formal employment and self-employment, thus breaking the cycle of poverty. The project benefits a total of 3,789 students (3,072 males and 717 females) in the subjects of mechanics and computer technology in ten technical colleges in five Bolivian departments: Chuquisaca, La Paz, Cochabamba, Potosí and Oruro.
Project goals
The project contributes to improving equal opportunities in the labour market and to securing the livelihoods of young people through relevant technical training in the fields of mechanics and computer technology that respond to the demand of the market and the economic system in the respective context.
Young men and women who participate in technical training programs in mechanics and computer systems use the skills they acquire to find employment or self-employment related to the local private sector.
Technical institutes and alternative education centers offer high-quality training in the fields of mechanics and computer systems and are linked to the dynamics of the world of work and the local economic system.
