Prosecuting violence against children

Children are often victims of violence in conflicts. The various forms of violence include, for example, the use of child soldiers or the denial of humanitarian aid. Attacks on schools and hospitals as well as sexual or gender-based violence are also common. The international NGO "Justice Rapid Response", JRR, is committed to improving the protection of children and victims of sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) worldwide.

The organisation wants to ensure that such crimes do not go unpunished. JRR experts are sent to conflict regions to document SGBV and child rights violations such as torture, sexual violence and the use of child soldiers. In recent years, JRR's findings have been utilised by UN commissions of enquiry and the International Criminal Court for various global initiatives, for example in Ukraine, Libya and Myanmar. JRR assumes that the need for its child rights expertise will continue to grow worldwide in the coming years.
