A project by Office for Foreign Affairs
Prosecute war crimes and strengthen the judiciary
Since the beginning of the Russian war of aggression, victims of suspected atrocities have been found time and again in Ukraine. In its foreign policy, Liechtenstein has long been committed to independently investigating such violations of international criminal law, securing evidence and bringing the perpetrators to justice. For this reason, Liechtenstein supports "Justice Rapid Response", JRR.
The Geneva-based non-governmental organisation makes its pool of experts available to the international community in many criminal cases. The pool consists of around 750 investigation and law specialists who document atrocities and support the authorities on site. This is currently being done at the request of the International Criminal Court in The Hague and the UN Commissions of Inquiry for Ukraine, Myanmar and Libya.
On the ground, JRR experts help to ensure that investigations can be carried out objectively, thoroughly and effectively. The entire programme makes an important contribution to prosecuting atrocities and strengthening the credibility of justice systems around the world.
