A project by Liechtenstein Development Service (LED)
Projekt Amcane: Increased income thanks to organic nut farming
Small farmers in northern Mozambique are among the poorest population groups in the country. Although they grow undemanding agricultural products such as peanuts and cashew nuts on their poor soils, the harvest is not very productive. The reasons for this are the nutrient-poor soil, little access to capital and technical resources, and lack of economic know-how. In order to secure a better income for the population of this region, the AMCANE project promotes the development of the peanut as well as the cashew and macadamia nut value chain.
Project goals
Smallholders increase productivity, quality and sales thanks to improved and sustainable production practices.
Local and regional entrepreneurs increase demand for the products grown at fair prices.
The various actors within the supply chain contribute to the development of inclusive standards and a better business environment.
Special features of the project
