A project by Office for Foreign Affairs
Peace work by women in conflict situations
Women carry out valuable peace work at many levels in many regions of the world. However, they usually have no voice in official peace negotiations. Liechtenstein is therefore committed to supporting the UN Security Council's Women, Peace and Security Agenda (WPS Agenda). Its implementation is being driven forward by the Women's Peace and Humanitarian Fund (WPHF) by promoting the participation of women and girls in peace processes.
Under the leadership of UN Women, several UN organisations ensure that sufficient financial resources are made available. They are used to support WPS projects for women in conflict situations and humanitarian crises. Since its foundation, the WPHF has supported over 700 civil society organisations and was able to reach 3.5 million people directly and 17 million people indirectly. In view of the numerous conflict hotspots worldwide, the WPHF is an important instrument for supporting partners in individual regions and at local level.
