Emergency aid for people in war-torn Sudan

Violent clashes broke out again in April 2023 in Sudan, a country ravaged by war and crises. Millions of people were displaced as a result. They fled within the country, to neighbouring countries or to South Sudan. This increased the number of people in need to well over 20 million. In addition to death and sexual violence, the armed conflict also resulted in the destruction of hospitals and other civilian facilities. Medair has further intensified its engagement in Sudan and South Sudan following the latest outbreak of war.

The NGO, which was founded in Switzerland in 1989 and has been active in this region for many years, is providing vital aid to the affected population with its emergency aid project. Medair's project aims to provide people with access to clean drinking water, essential supplies, quality health care as well as food to help combat widespread malnutrition. Liechtenstein already supported Medair's emergency aid projects in 2020 and 2022 and is participating again to do its share to alleviate the humanitarian disaster.
