Developing sustainable agriculture value chains in Namuli Territory
Namuli is not only Mozambique's second-highest peak, it is also a biodiversity hotspot, a regional water tower, a cultural sanctuary and a region with strong tourism potential. However, Namuli's high- altitude forests, which provide ecosystem services essential to the resilience of local communities, are now threatened by agricultural deforestation. In this context and territory, Nitidae is working with Namuli’s communities to reconcile the conservation of natural resources and local economic dynamism through sustainable and fair agricultural value chains.
Project goals
Agricultural trajectories, vectors of deforestation, are curved through the development of productive, sustainable and resilient production systems integrated into territorial dynamic.
Namuli's communities lead the elaboration and the implementation of inclusive management and development plans for their territory, reconciling conservation, agricultural and development issues.
Special features of the project
Nitidae promotes a systemic and integrated approach, on a territorial scale, based on an in-depth understanding of the landscape and agrarian dynamics. We mobilize rural communities, public institutions and the private sector to reconcile economic dynamism with the conservation of service- providing ecosystems, through the development of fair and sustainable agricultural value chains.
