Collecting data on human rights violations
When human rights are violated, reliable evidence and verifiable data are essential to establish the truth, conduct criminal proceedings and help victims obtain justice. The US NGO "Human Rights Information and Documentation Systems", HURIDOCS, has been helping human rights activists to collect and securely manage information and evidence of human rights violations for around 40 years. To this end, it has developed the open-source software "Uwazi" in order to be able to analyse data under high security requirements.
With its project "Human Rights Documentation: A Time-Critical Intervention", HURIDOCS is committed to strengthening human rights organisations, particularly in countries where critical human rights violations need to be documented. HURIDOCS works closely with leading human rights organisations and UN mandates. It is recognised as a professional NGO that contributes to improving accountability for human rights violations worldwide.
