Agricultural training creates new prospects in West Africa
Burkina Faso and Mali have valuable mineral and natural resources. However, due to many years of conflict and crises, people in both West African countries experience food insecurity. This situation is further exacerbated by the consequences of climate change.
Rising food prices, persistently high unemployment and a lack of prospects are leading to growing frustration among the population, particularly among young people. While poorly educated young people are leaving for the cities and fleeing abroad, there is a lack of qualified workers in rural areas. The development of agricultural vocational training, on the other hand, can create jobs for young people who are currently struggling to earn a living. In addition, the yields of farms are improving and food security for peasant families is also increasing.
Project goals
Advice and services give peasant families the opportunity to modernise their production towards sustainable agriculture.
Young men and women have access to high-quality and innovative agricultural training that enables them to professionalise their careers.
Companies in the agricultural sector develop competitive business models with the help of support services.
The public sector provides the necessary framework to develop the agricultural sector and vocational training.
