Advancing research into human and child trafficking
Human trafficking is a growing problem around the world. This extreme form of exploitation primarily affects people who are affected by poverty and displacement. The Ludwig Boltzmann Institute of Fundamental and Human Rights, LBI-GMR, has been promoting human rights research in this area for many years. The research focus on human trafficking is a particular focus of the LBI-GMR, which sees itself as a link between theory and practice.
The Vienna-based institute works in three areas: research, dissemination of the legal commentary on the Council of Europe Convention on Action against Trafficking in Human Beings and networking with stakeholders and institutions such as the UN, the Council of Europe, the EU and the OSCE. A particular focus is on the issue of child trafficking, with the main aim to provide access to compensation for the injustice suffered by children who have become victims of child trafficking.
Project goals
Strengthening the LBI-GMR's research focus on human trafficking.
Raising awareness for child trafficking and giving victims of child trafficking access to compensation.
Highlighting the successfully finalised legal commentary on the Council of Europe Convention on Action against Trafficking in Human Beings with relevant target groups.
