Action plan against modern human trafficking and slavery
Human trafficking and slavery are far from being a thing of the past. Effective measures to combat modern slavery and human trafficking are therefore on the agenda of UN member states until 2030. Liechtenstein has been actively involved in the fight against modern slavery and human trafficking since 2016.
Together with the United Nations University (UNU), they focus on integrating the global financial sector. The Liechtenstein public-private initiative "Finance Against Slavery and Trafficking" (FAST) presented an action plan in 2019 to prevent international money laundering. Liechtenstein has been able to constructively contribute its extensive expertise as a financial centre.
Both the UNU and Liechtenstein's foreign policy have been committed to promoting the action plan in recent years, and as a result, numerous financial centre stakeholders worldwide were able to take up its objectives and implement appropriate measures. FAST's notable successes include the training of financial experts, access to banking services for survivors and the establishment of an investment alliance in the Asia-Pacific region. With the help of a project plan and clearly defined areas of work, FAST is also set to become a globally anchored institution in the medium and long term.
