"Youth Maker Club 2": Starting opportunities for a career in tech

Since 2022, the LED has been supporting the "Youth Maker Club" in the three Moldovan cities of Chișinău, Bălți and Cahul: vocational school students take part in a range of learning activities as part of innovative training in information and communication technology. These include, for example, technical workshops, makeathons, repair cafés or events on the topic of ecological consumption and career guidance. The technical course content includes CNC and woodworking, Arduino and electronics, 3D printing and modelling, robots and drones.

The ICT courses, which last several weeks, are taught by young ICT professionals as mentors. As a result, the participants experience a different learning environment than at vocational school, which is beneficial for their personal development. In 2024, the project entered its second phase, "Youth Maker Club 2", which includes the expansion of ICT activities to a fourth location.

This will give even more young people in the Moldovan provinces the chance to acquire the skills they need for a future-oriented tech career and thus find a better-paid job. The technical and pedagogical quality of the extracurricular courses is ensured in cooperation with the Moldovan Association of ICT Companies, ATIC.

Project goals

Vocational school students use innovative extracurricular learning opportunities to strengthen their technical skills, digital competences and self-confidence.
