Windows from Switzerland and Liechtenstein for Ukraine
Since February 2022 Russian bombing raids have destroyed and damaged countless buildings in Ukraine. Windows were particularly effected. Those buildings that are still habitable no longer offer protection from the cold, the wet and other threats. By contrast, in Switzerland and Liechtenstein high-quality windows are often disposed of, even though they could be reused in the pursuit of sustainability and recycling.
For this reason, in May 2022 the RE-WIN association launched the "Windows for Ukraine" initiative: windows donated by Switzerland and Liechtenstein are transported to Ukraine and reinstalled in residential buildings with the help of the local NGO "Proactive Generation". RE-WIN has also set up a local storage location in Rhine Valley. Thanks to Liechtenstein's contribution, nearly 3'000 windows can be donated to Ukraine, providing about 750 families with a sheltered home.
