A project by Office for Foreign Affairs
Support for Ukrainian refugees
Many millions of people have been forcibly displaced from their homes since the beginning of the Russian aggression and millions of people are fleeing. With no end to the armed conflict in sight, the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) fears that these numbers could rise even further. The UNHCR office in New York supports displaced people worldwide, including in Ukraine.
The UN organisation coordinates their registration, protection, care and accommodation. It also supports internally displaced persons in Ukraine. UNHCR endeavours to enable displaced persons to return to their homes and helps the countries that have taken in Ukrainian refugees to integrate them.
Project goals
Establishment and expansion of UNHCR structures with their own locations throughout the country: humanitarian aid for refugees and internally displaced persons and registration.
Supporting countries hosting Ukrainian refugees: working with national and local partners to expand access to education, employment, housing, social assistance and medical or other support.
Preventing and combating gender-based violence, sexual exploitation and human trafficking.
Promoting the return of displaced persons to their communities of origin and their reconstruction in accordance with the National Reconstruction Plan of Ukraine.
