Support for internally displaced persons in Syria
Since the outbreak of the civil war in Syria, several million people have fled their homes. While many European countries are focussed on supporting refugees who have already left Syria, Liechtenstein is taking a different approach: With this project the focus is on helping the many internally displaced persons who are still living in Syria. Sufficient support is the only way to ensure that they do not have to leave their homes and can stay in the country.
The aid programme of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, UNHCR, provides internally displaced persons in Syria with access to humanitarian care and accommodation, enables them to get registered and assists them in returning to their homes. With this project, Liechtenstein is making a substantial contribution to maintaining the UNHCR's vital aid in Syria.
