Protection of internally displaced persons in Ukraine

The war in Ukraine is causing great suffering, especially among the civilian population. Millions of people are fleeing. Sufficient supplies of food, drinking water, medicine, electricity and heating are not guaranteed for everyone. The International Organisation for Migration (IOM) plays a key role in supporting internally displaced persons: Since the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) does not have a specific protection mandate in place in Ukraine, it provides the necessary support and protection for internally displaced persons. With its contribution to this project, Liechtenstein is assuming its responsibility for refugees in Ukraine and neighbouring countries.
