The UN Development Programme UNDP is active in more than 160 countries. Its local offices help the governments of the respective countries to find solutions for developmental challenges. The UNDP is particularly focussed on democratic governance, fighting poverty and promoting gender equality.

The programme plays a central role in coordinating UN activities in the respective countries. This function is crucial for many projects Liechtenstein is involved in as well. In recent years, Liechtenstein has regularly supported the UNDP, particularly in the fight against corruption.

Conversely, Liechtenstein benefits from the UNDP teams’ expert knowledge, for example on trips that aim to get a general economic and political overview of the situation in the different countries. These valuable briefings help to understand the challenges on the ground and also inform the project work of the Office for Foreign Affairs.
