Open to all: The digital library in Cambodia

Freely accessible teaching and learning materials are particularly important in low-income countries such as Cambodia. Open educational resources (OER) make it possible to support learners according to their abilities and improve their performance. The Cambodian Ministry of Education has been creating a digital OER library for several years. It provides access to textbooks and many other media that are suitable for teaching.

In order to further improve this online library, the LED is supporting the IT department of the Ministry of Education responsible for it. The aim is to connect the library with the learning platform "Sala Digital" (which means "digital school" in English) that was established in Cambodia.

Local servers for free access to the online library and "Sala Digital" are also being installed in ten schools. Following successful pilot tests, the capacity of this technology is being expanded. Teachers are also being supported in using these tools effectively in the classroom. In addition, the IT department is developing supplementary and practice-orientated teaching materials for grade 11 students.

Project goals

The OER platform and the learning platform "Sala Digital" (digital school) will be improved and interlinked.

Students and teachers in ten schools can access the OER platform and the "digital school" free of charge.

Teachers from these ten schools have received training on how to use the platforms in their lessons and how to share their own materials.

Grade 11 students receive digital work aids for the digital skills textbook.
