More influence for women in peace missions
Women are affected by the consequences of violent conflicts in many regions of the world. At the same time, they are rarely adequately involved in peace negotiations and post-conflict settlements. As part of its commitment to the UN's "Women, Peace and Security" agenda, Liechtenstein is working to increase the involvement of women in peace mediation. For this reason, Liechtenstein has been supporting the international NGO "Centre for Humanitarian Dialogue", HD Centre, since 2009.
The Geneva-based foundation promotes peace mediation and the exchange of knowledge in the mediation sector worldwide. In countries like Ethiopia, Cameroon, Thailand and Syria, the HD Centre strives for inclusive peace processes and includes women in negotiations in order to make their opinions and suggestions heard.
