A project by Liechtenstein Development Service (LED)

Gender-sensitive programme for sustainable food security

The aim of this project is to improve food security to a level that guarantees a sustainable development for the people in the project area. This can be accomplished by decreasing environmental, climate change, economic, and health risks. A key strategy is to increase and diversify agricultural production and incomes, while developing resilience plans to adapt to the impacts of climate change. In addition, it is crucial to provide agriculture-related training and resources. Activities aimed at socially and economically empowering women also contribute to reaching the project’s aim.

Direct target groups of the project include people from rural households, associations, umbrella organisations of farmers and producers, vegetable farming groups, family farms, institutions and civil society organisations, as well as rural small business owners and entrepreneurs, representatives of local authorities and communities, and women and young people in general.

Project goals

To contribute to sustainable food security and resilience of the Senegalese population to shocks, taking into account gender equity, by 2035.

Rural households in the above-mentioned areas have sustainably improved their food situation as well as nutritional habits by 2026, taking gender equity into account.
