A project by Liechtenstein Development Service (LED)
Education empowers women and young people in the Sahel
The Sahel is characterized by a local economy that is heavily dependent on the primary sector – agriculture and livestock farming – and dominated by small, informal family businesses, as well as an inadequate education system that cannot guarantee quality basic education for all.
The project aims to facilitate the integration of young adults into the national labor market, the development of income-generating activities and the access to financial services. This is intended to open up sustainable career prospects for them and improve their living conditions in the long term, thereby reducing the pressure to migrate.
Project goals
The young adults who have completed the training programs find employment or become self-employed.
Employment increases the young adults' annual income.
The members of the savings and credit groups expand their economic activities through improved access to finance.
