Advancing vocational clinical education in Zambia
The ACEZ program will assist the Zambian Ministries of Health and Education to strengthen the decentralized dual vocational clinical education system for more and better trained doctors, medical licentiates, clinical officers, nurses and midwifes.
Three decentralized Vocational Centres of Excellence (VCEs) for clinical training will be established, each one attached to a provincial teaching hospital. These VCEs will help improve practical skills and competencies due to an improved vocational environment that includes skills labs, simulation training facilities, digital platforms, off- and online learning materials, seminar rooms, and research facilities.
Clinical teachers and managers will have improved didactic skills and capacities through dedicated programs developed, supported, and delivered within this project.
Project goals
The three main outcomes of the project are:
Clinical students have improved practical skills through an improved vocational environment in the form of modern VCEs at three peripheral provincial teaching hospitals.
Clinical teachers have improved didactic skills and competencies through comprehensive trainings.
The VCEs are sustainably integrated into the national health education system and a network of national and international partners.
